I pack for a feeling before I pack for a schedule. Every destination has a rhythm, and the best travel wardrobe responds to it without becoming a costume. I begin with three words for the trip—perhaps relaxed, polished and nocturnal—and let those words edit everything that enters the suitcase.
A strong travel capsule is built around pieces that change character. A black dress that works with flat sandals at lunch and gold jewelry after dark. Tailored trousers with a silk shirt, a fitted knit or nothing more complicated than a perfect tank. One jacket with structure. One pair of shoes that can survive a long dinner and an unplanned walk.
I keep beauty equally simple: excellent skin, defined eyes, one lip color with confidence and a fragrance that belongs to the trip. The goal is not to bring every possible version of yourself. It is to arrive knowing exactly who you want to be there.
Leave space in the suitcase. You may find a vintage scarf, a local designer or a reason to stay longer. Good travel is partly preparation and partly permission—to change the plan, follow the light and bring home a story you could not have packed in advance.
